Blackberry

Rubus villosus

Blackberries carry energies that promote wealth, healing, fertility and protection.

Blackberries may also be referred to as brambles or briers and grow wild in temperate areas.

The difference between a blackberry and a black raspberry can be discerned by examining the berry. The raspberry looks a bit like a little thimble or cap with a depression where the stem separated, giving it a hollow look. The blackberry has no such depression.

Blackberries are a traditional food for Lughnassadh and may be served in jellies, wine or baked into pies to encourage a fruitful harvest. Blackberry juice is helpful for diarrhea and other digestive complaints.

Blackberries are a good source of Vitamin E, Folate, Magnesium, Potassium, Copper, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Manganese
