Cardamom
Elettario cardamomum
Cardamom has been used in Asia and Africa to flavor food, as medicine and as an aphrodisiac for centuries. Europeans have also been enamored of it since Alexander the Great brought it back from his travels. Ancient Romans may have burned cardamom pods as offerings to their Gods.
The scent and taste of cardamom is warm and inviting. It is an excellent ingredient for those romantic dinners. Cardamom is not only considered aphrodisiac, but it is also said to strengthen bonds between lovers.
Cardamom will remain freshest if you buy it in the pod and store it in the fridge. The pods can be placed right inside dishes that will be cooking for some time and removed before eating or the seeds can be removed from the pods and ground, then added to foods.
Cardamom is an ingredient in chai tea and can be added to coffee grounds and brewed right along with the coffee for extra stimulation and mental clarity. It is also tasty steeped in warm wine or cocoa to encourage romantic encounters.
Cardamom can be eaten to increase your rhetorical powers and encourage others to receive your words well, especially potential lovers. It can also be chewed after a meal to freshen the breath and enhance after dinner conversation. It is also believed to aid in digestion and prevent gas. Always a plus.
