Mustard
Mustard, the condiment, is made from the crushed seed of the mustard plant combined with turmeric and oil and vinegar (and/or white wine and/or lemon juice) and perhaps some other seasonings per the chef's tastes.
Studies have shown that mustard seed kills E. coli, Listeria and Salmonella bacteria. All of these are potential hazards in take along lunches, so slather your cold cut sandwiches with this tasty condiment and be sure to mix plenty in your potato salad!

Mustard is also the condiment of choice for many special diets as it is low in fat (or fat free, depending on preparation) and contains no sugar, nuts, gluten, soy or animal products. (Usually) Though many preparations are high in sodium. Mustard also contains fiber, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, thiamine, manganese and selenium.
