Plums are stonefruit, closely related to peaches and cherries, and like these, they tend to be very pretty trees with attractive flowers in the springtime.

Plums have been found near ancient human settlements along with figs and grapes and the most popular varieties of plums are not found in the wild. This indicates that plums have been cultivated by humans since pre-historic times.

Plums are ready for picking in autumn and are tasty out of hand or preserved in jams or dried as prunes. Salted, fermented and pickled plums can be found in Asian cuisine and plums are used to make brandy in Eastern Europe.

Plums are available in a variety of colors and so can be used for color magick. Damsons are purple, Greengages are green, Mirabelles are yellow, Satsumas are red and Victorias are pink.

Plums may be eaten as part of spells to attract love and admiration. Plum juice or plum wine may likewise be drunk as part of such a spell.
Plum blossoms may be used in love spells, plum wood makes a good wand.

Plums are rich in fiber and vitamins A, K and C.
