The full moon in February shines on a bleak, cold landscape. There is little to gather and game is scarce. The hens aren't laying and the dairy is dry and the local predators are desperate for food and growing more dangerous by the day.

The Hunger Moon reminds us that our ancestors relied entirely upon their stored supplies and this moon shone brightly on the sufficiency of their preparations. Very soon the livestock would begin producing again. Very soon tiny shoots would push up from the Earth but now, today, there is nothing except what you saved from a more abundant season.

This is a good time to take stock of your own preparations for lean times and unexpected difficulties as well as to remember those who are not as well set up as yourself. An excellent time for both donating and prepping.
